Project: Branding Playing Cards

At present, the only plans I have for this design blog are to showcase a large scale design project I have planned. There have been many such projects floating about the world wide net web. One of the more ambitious ones involved creating a logo for each of the over 10,000 lakes in the state of Minnesota.

I'm setting my sights significantly lower — playing cards. 52 in total, plus the two jokers. I found, in researching them, that each suit originally represented a different class of society (or so I'm led to believe). Also, each of the face cards represent a specific figure in history. The four kings, for example, are King David (spades), Charlemagne (hearts), Julius Caesar (diamonds), and Alexander the Great (clubs).

There's a bunch more symbolism involved, as well, so it should prove to be a pretty fun project!

Introduction, Manifesto, Etc.

Jello World! (Because "Hello World!" is too mainstream*.)

This is Myxx & Match, and these are the bloggings of Myxx Design, the DBA of me, Darryl Reed.

A little about myself: I'm a graphic and web designer in Cincinnati, Ohio. I received my bachelor's degree in graphic design from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 2010 and I am currently finishing up my associate's degree in multimedia and web design from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and will graduate (again!) in 2013.

As I develop my portfolio site, I hope to integrate the two as much as possible and, for once, keep an active blog for an extended period of time.

*By "mainstream", I mean that my right index finger never seemed able to find the H key when typing the phrase. Jello World it is. It sounds like a wonderful place, though, doesn't it?
